Katie m Berggren – Oil and AcrylicARTIST’S STATEMENT: Capturing and releasing are two reasons I paint: to capture a moment, or to release an emotion. The process of creating and completing a piece provides a satisfying way to hold life at arm’s length...
Why I do what I do: To sell? Not necessarily. Of course, yes, laying down money is the ultimate vote, but there is so much more to it than that.
For Exposure - To expose myself as an artist, but also to expose myself as a human: a mistake-making, hopeful, down-trodden/uplifted, uncertain, intimate and solution-seeking human soul.
To Release Passion and to have it bounce back to me - falling in love with the process, the subject, the colors, the texture, the alone-time, the meditation.
To Feel Connected to the world.
To Constantly Strive and challenge myself.
To Love something about myself. To have moments of complete selfishness.
To Scratch the Surface. To cut the crap - to be real, to get it.
Honesty, raw emotion and life with two small children are the foundation for my paintings. My images begin as a fleeting concept – a tug at my soul, and the finished pieces often are bits of my soul brushed across canvas or board.
I paint because I must, and it is my desire that another may connect with
the images as well. |
