Longview Artist Wins International Recognition

Linda McCord, a watercolor artist from Longview, Washington was awarded first place in the figurative category at Infinity Art Gallery ’s international, juried Winter Expo 2010.

Funny Pages, a 39 x 21 inch watercolor that captures a whimsical moment in McCord’s 92 year old mother’s day as the light shines through the window on her back and onto the colorful comics page. This touching and lighthearted piece captivated the attention of the jurors.

Figurative sculptor and juror, Kim Mosley said, “Funny Pages grabs my attention and keeps it. I find myself captured by her ability to achieve textures and precision of detail with watercolor paint. [McCord’s] use of light and shadows are brilliantly executed. This painting is tightly constructed although, at the same time, loose and playful. What a wonderful way to honor her mother.”
